Well, my wife got me one for Christmas. I’m just waiting for it to get here. It’s due at the end of the week / beginning of next week. I can give u an in-depth review as soon as I get it (if you’re still interested, that is).
Will do. I will say that I’ve had trouble with defective parts. I have, however, finally corrected everything as of yesterday (so perfect timing). I’ll take some videos tonight, cut em up, and send em your way next week.
Yeah, that’s my fault. It’s taking longer to make the video than I thought. If you’re interested, I can just show you the suit and give you some feedback “face-to-face” via skype or twitch or something.
That might be better, too, because it will allow for questions.
I can do that, sure. But I am an English Teacher, mind you, so my reply might be overly detailed and extensive – plus, I just think a visual would give you a more precise answer. You’ve been warned…
Anyway, I can say that your concern is actually well-merited. I’m not entirely convinced that what I received was worth the $2,500.00 that I paid. That is, it’s made of a not-so-durable foam-like material – which, I suppose, is the EVA material that is advertised on their website – and the parts were somewhat falling apart (and taking paint with them as they bent and warped). You must, however, understand that I have no understanding of what material like this costs, so I may not be giving them enough credit. I just doubt that the electronics, EVA material, and custom-sized construction of the suit merits anything over $1,000.00. I suspect they’re making quite the profit from these suits.
In an attempt to make this evaluation a bit more unbiased, let me first begin with the positive experiences I’ve had with the suit. Regarding the sizing, everything fits very well, and I have no problems getting the suit on or off (though, it does require a second person for help). The suit functions properly, I can move somewhat freely, and the overall look and feel of the suit is commendable. It may take a bit of self-prompted modifications to get everything fitting right (which is what I was doing that pushed back my ability to post a quality video), but once everything is how you like it, everything seems to be great; I’ve had no problems since I got everything up-and-running correctly.
The “getting everything up-and-running correctly” is what concerns me the most, however. When I received the crate (and it is quite literally a crate), got everything out and assembled, I found that my suit would not power up. When I put the batteries in, the battery pack would actually catch fire. This was quite concerning since the batteries themselves cost upwards of $80.00 (I bought two sets). After a great deal of time and effort (I followed the directions, tried all the configurations I could manage, and even took the suit to a local battery shop), I contacted the manufacturer and they were very friendly (another positive element, I might add). They mentioned they were looking into the cause, and they would refund me $100.00. They then sent me two replacement battery packs and two replacement converters, which makes me suspect they have this problem regularly (why else would they send me two of each?).
When I received the shipment, I found that the battery packs were not those that were placed in the suit originally (though everything fit together properly). The problem was, however, that the battery pack didn’t hold the batteries that I was instructed to get. I should also note here that the battery packs were perceivably the same packs, but they had been altered by being cut in half and then fastened to a large metal plate (remember, I know very little about wiring and electronics; I don’t have any idea why they did this). The problem was, however, that they had elongated the battery pack when it was cut in half, and the batteries would no longer fit in the pack. Fortunately for me, it wasn’t the battery pack that was the problem; it was the converter. After I replaced the converter with one of the two they sent me, the suit powered up fine. Upon putting the suit on, though, I began to have more problems.
Upon wearing the suit, I noticed that all of the construction is completed with hot glue and some other sort of adhesive (again, I’m not sure the quality is worth $2,500.00). Don’t get me wrong, everything holds together fine; it doesn’t feel like it’s on the verge of falling apart every time I put it on, but I expected something more than glue and foam). More specifically, the chest piece warped (presumably from the dry heat here in Arizona) and when it came apart, it left large chips in the paint. This was also the case for the arm laser (which came apart when I tried being my wrist) and the silver knee assembly. I mentioned this in an email to the manufacturer, and though they were very pleasant and receptive, they only sent me a means of reattaching the dislodged parts with a hot glue gun. Again, not exactly what I was expecting for $2,500.00.
I must say, however, that accepting the quality of the suit for what it is has allowed me to also embrace the flexibility that comes with this type of material and construction. Though it’s not what I thought I was getting for $2,500.00 (I mean, I could have bought an old junky car and entered a demolition derby or something ), the flexibility of the design has allowed me to take my own measures to make it more personalized. I’ve since started constructing the suit into a more single piece suit that allows the wearer to assemble the suit without a partner. Also, I can make changes that just make it more comfortable to wear.
Also, please note that it is nearly impossible to sit in this suit. It’s a blast to wear once you get all the kinks out, but be sure you 1.) are going to have plenty of time to assemble the suit and put it on, 2.) don’t plan on sitting anytime soon (since it takes so long to take off and put on, it has really deterred me from wearing it as much as I would like), and 3.) are prepared to do a bit of personalized modifications.
To summarize, I would give my overall experience a 7 out of 10. Like I said, I’m still working on the video, so I’ll hopefully post that soon. I’m also available via skype and twitch if you would like to see the suit beforehand.
Message me on Skype at Mike_Lee_03 if you’re interested.
Oh, and please forgive me. I did not review my work, so it may not be representative of your expectations for an English Teacher. Sorry :-/
I will say that some of the issues I’ve experienced with the mark 4 suit seem to be overcome in the War Machine suit. Sitting, for instance, is nearly impossible with the Mark IV, but the War Machine is clearly seen sitting in the pictures found on the website.
Like I said, hit me up on skype if you have any specific questions or want to see the suit (Mike_Lee_03).
Thanks a lot for your time and kindness. As found, I think I’ll wait some time (maybe 6-8 months) to let the company adjust some youth’s problems. For the next halloween / carnival I need one of these suits…. for this carnival is too short.
Sorry for my english.. you are a english teacher.. I’m an Swiss-Italian Guy 😀
Hello, I have finally decided to buy the armor from them. Your review was extremely helpful. However no instructions were provided whatsoever by the company. Any idea how I can work the electronics? E.g. Where to put the batteries and is there any switch to open/close the helmet?
Oooh – yep. That was a problem I had, as well. Luckily, if you email them and let them know ur having troubles, they’ll send u an electronic copy of the instructions. If you would prefer, though, you can also hit me up on Skype (mike_Lee_03) for some help too.
As for the helmet, there should be a small button on the right glove at the thumb. This, however, won’t work unless the suit is fully powered up (which I’m sure you know). Beware, though: the power converters (I think thats what they are…?) often don’t work, so you may need to contact them for a replacement. Out of the three they sent me, only one worked. As for the batteries, there should be a small box with elongated cutouts. It is most likely velcrowed to the inside of the chest piece.
Like I said, let me know if you would like some help. I’m available on Skype tonight around 7:30 central standard time.
Did you end up receiving a suit, and if so, was it of the quality you expected?
I’ve not bought one yet, too expensive for me. I’ma update the page so it asks people who bought one to leave a review 🙂
Been speaking to the company and the coupon should be back soon 🙂
I’m thinking about getting one, but I don’t see a place to put in this coupon code. Thoughts?
Unfortunately the guys who provided this code stopped replying to me and from this comment I can assume they discontinued it :/

I would like a review, because it seems that no one has ever made a review about the armors from this website.
Email it over to contact@quicktoptens.com along with any form of recognition you want 🙂

Great, I imagine not everything would be perfect
Anybody tried the armor already? Thinking of getting one but not sure how reliable they are. I have not seen any kind of review yet.
One of the commenters is creating a review so keep your eye out here 🙂

Can U just tell me if worth it? I’m going to order one but I’m little afraid of.

So still no review? I’m strongly considering the Mark 42 or War Machine but want a little info first.
review is above 🙂
