Fallout 4 has been met with a ton of good reviews, even those who think it’s not like previous installments are pouring hundreds of hours into it. As well as this, modders have already started fixing and adding awesome things that should really have been in the final release by Bethesda. A lot of players prefer to play the base version without any kind of modding which isn’t a problem, but for the majority of PC players, modding is crucial to making a good game even better. Here are the Fallout 4 best 10 mods that should have been in the game in the first place!
10. Touch of Green
This mod adds a little bit of green bushes, grass leaves etc to the world. There is another mod that adds a ton of green but for a post-apocalyptic, war-torn world, only a bit is needed. It adds to the immersion, looks a bit more realistic and provides a bit of colour.
9. Rain Improvement
The default rain is pretty much invisible and non-existent, this mod changes that to make it actually look and feel like its raining. This is a simple fix to what should have been a simple feature from Bethesda.
8. Enhanced Blood
The default blood isn’t too bad but it looks very cartoon-ish when you decapitate or rip a limb off. This mod changes that by complementing the violence and making the blood texture/animations a bit more realistic.
7. Vivid Fallout
The landscape textures that come with the original copy are way below today’s standards and one of the biggest disappointments in the entire game. This mod fixes that, replacing the old textures with new ones that are available in up to 2k resolution!
6. Craftable ammo
Ammo can be easy to find, especially if you have the perk, but this mod makes it so you can just make it at a workshop. Now you don’t have to use your perks on the ammo scavenging unless you want even more ammo. It’s definitely needed for any playthrough because it’s a necessity, you should make be able to craft ammo!
5. Settlement Supplies
Base-building is a widely-loved feature that brought an entirely new dynamic to the Fallout series. However, one of the things that is wrong with the system is the fact that there are not many items to choose from. You have a good list of beds, tables, walls etc but when you have an idea in your head that has to change completely to meet the availability of items, it can be a bit disheartening. This mod seeks to change that by giving you access to tons of new items!
4. Full Dialogue
Another huge disappointment is the speed choices. In previous Fallout games, your choice was meaningful and could portray exactly how you want your character’s personality to be. In Fallout 4, this is not the case! But you can’t expect modders to completely re-write the entire script so they’ve just done the best thing they possibly can do, which is replace the completely ridiculous choices with the words you actually speak when you choose it. You can also choose how it looks to fit your style, there is no reason why you don’t have this!
3. WET
Talking about disappointments, lets move on to the water textures. Although not irritatingly bad, the water animations and textures aren’t realistic and are almost laughable. This mod completely changes the water textures to be a lot more realistic and immersive.
2. Simple Intersection
By far the most annoying, silly and unnecessary pain with base building is trying to get walls, floors and other items to look structurally correct. Of course you don’t need to be an architect with a Masters Degree but you should at least be able to place a floor under a column. With this mod you can, it’ll save you tons of time trying to get around placing certain things in certain positions and finally allow you to build the base of your dreams!
1. Fusion Core Drain
The number 1 entry actually changes depending on your playstyle, but I bet you really need this. One of the most epic and awesome moments of the first playthrough is using Power Armour. Countless enemies are destroyed as you roam the wasteland, obliterating all manner of raiders and ghouls on the way. That is until the energy runs out after 20 minutes. This mod allows you to change how long a Fusion Core lasts for. You can give it a small increase or make it unlimited, completely up to you. You might think Power Armour is supposed to be a limited resource so just give it a small boost to make it a little bit more usable and a little bit less limited. Personally I increased it by 50%, it’s enough to use for a good amount of time but not enough for me to take the Power Armour for granted.
