Best Skyrim Followers – After all these years, Skyrim is still holding strong. There are many potential followers in Skyrim and in order to figure out who is worth pursuing and who isn’t, can be a daunting task.

Irrespective of your playing style, Skyrim has always got a follower for you. To be true, not all companions were created with equal powers. For every capable archer or mage, there is a dimwitted warrior or an eager citizen who got in over his head, wanting adventure but never truly considering the reality of that decision.

Top 10 Strongest And Best Skyrim Followers

Here, we have got for you our list of top 10 strongest and best Skyrim followers.

10. Best: Aela The Huntress

Aela, a well rounded along with a loyal Nord werewolf, becomes available to you only after the completion of the Companions questline. She processes amazing power with a bow for long-distance attacks, but she is decent enough with one-handed weapons for melee attacks. With the level on 50, her Sneak skill reaches 97 making her the perfect and one of the strongest Skyrim follower for sneaky thieves and stealthy archers.

Along with this, she comes with perks such as on-the-go archery training and the ability to give lycanthropy, which is like an icing on the cake.

9. Mjoll the Lioness

In order to find her, you got to explore her in the in thief-ridden Riften, Mjoll the Lioness is a Nord warrior who has taken it upon herself to rid the town of corruption. To garner her companionship, you must first earn her favor and then retrieve her lost sword. Believe me, she is worth all the trouble. Mjoll is an essential character, which means that she can never be killed—not even by friendly fire during an intense battle.

With the cap of 40 level, she maxes out both her Heavy Armor and Two-Handed skills, that makes her great tank for players that prefer long-range attacks. Not only is she a beast on the battlefield, but she is also a pleasant person. As you travel, she will regale you with story after story about her past.

8. Teldryn Sero

How can we miss a  Dunmer on our list, Teldryn Sero, is a spellsword and mercenary? You need to explore The Retching Netch in the Solstheim town of Raven Rock to find him. Teldryn is a force to be reckoned with in any battle, topping out at level 60 with One-Handed, Light Armor, Destruction, and Conjuration being his primary skills.

Teldryn’s class and skill set make him a triple threat and a treat to the soul. Being a savvy swordsman who is more than capable of holding his own in battle, but also blasts opponents with Flame or Firebolt when appropriate. On top of all of this, he will also summon a flame atronach to add to the onslaught. When he does suffer damage, he heals himself or uses ward spells for added protection.

7. Annekke Crag-Jumper

Ok, there…Relax, she is married and has a husband. She is a highly skilled thief follower with amazing stats in light armor, archery, one-handed and block. Annekke can be obtained by visiting Darkwater Crossing and when you speak with her, she will give you a quest which you have to complete.

She carries a low HP but doesn’t let that fool you as if you’re an aggressive player, she’s great to have on your back.

6. Serana

Carrying the tag of the Daughters of ColdHarbour, Serena became a pure-blooded vampire by pledging herself to Molag Bal by undergoing a terrifying ritual. She is a very useful character who cannot be killed; she comes as a part of the Dawnguard DLC.

A powerful necromancer, Serana’s level caps at 50, and she will raise corpses to help in battle. If she runs out of magicka while obliterating everything in sight with Destruction spells, she’ll switch to a melee weapon (One-handed is one of her primary skills) so give her a strong sword or dagger.

Considering the case of her being outside the combat, Serana is a unique follower who can interact with her environment. If you want to upscale, you can have her bite the Dragonborn to turn them into a Vampire Lord.

5. Vilkas

Vilkas can be acquired as a follower after the Companions questline. Talking about the skills, he is crafted in two-handed weapons, heavy armor, blocking, and archery. He also boats an exceedingly high HP of 621.

If you are looking for being amazed, he is a perfect follower for ranged players as he can act as a frontline tank, even to the biggest of foes.

4. Frea

Found in the Skaal Village on Solstheim Frea is a Nord shaman and it can only be achieved if you own the Dragonborn DLC. Not only does Frea not have a level cap, the best part is that she is essential and thus cannot be killed. In order to  her a permanent follower you need to  either pass a persuasion check or successfully bribe her after completing “The Fate of the Skaal.”

Her skill set includes Alteration, Light Armor, Restoration, and One-handed. There are two reasons why she’s pretty cool: she dual wields weapons and is smart enough to wait for you to disable traps.

3. Jenassa

She is one of the best Skyrim followers you will encounter initially, Jenassa is a master archer and trust me you will cherish her. Like Aela, her archery and light armor skills are bound to amaze you. In contrast, Jenassa sacrifices sneak for stamina. She has better stamina and HP than Aela.

In order to recruit her, you need to pay 500 Gold to her in the Drunken Huntsman which is found in a White run.

2. Cicero

A perfect follower—in small craft.

If adventure is something that you are looking at, then the jester assassin, Cicero, is not for you because you have to join the Dark Brotherhood to acquire him. You must also choose to spare his life after he flees to Dawnstar Sanctuary—once again making him an essential character—during “The Cure for Madness”.

Cicero’s high-pitched voice, dark humor, and mini dance parties are an acquired taste but also make him one of the most developed characters in the game. There’s never a dull moment with him as your companion.

Cicero’s level caps at 50 with mastery in One-Handed and Sneak—he won’t set off traps—and high levels in Light Armor and Archery. He is a versatile fighter who excels at close combat but is also an effective sneaky sniper.

1. J’Zargo

One might be clueless as to why he is so powerful but nevertheless, he won’t fail to charm you. He’s a Battlemage with the highest level-cap of all followers, making him top this list of best Skyrim followers. To play with him you need to complete a special quest which he gives. He is an apprentice in the College of Winterhold.

On a strange part, he has a maxed out heavy armor skill as well as one-handed. He also has maximum power in destruction, restoration and illusion magic. To make things even more bizarre, he has the maximum HP of 717 out of all the other followers in the game.
