Top 10 Best Maces in Skyrim (& How to Obtain Them)

Depending on your fighting style, the mace can be the most boring weapon you could wield or your favorite. Though these one-handed weapons are definitely the slowest, there’s no denying that they deal the most damage out of all the weapon classes. Pair this weapon with heavy armor or shield, and you’ll definitely be a lot slower. But the damage you can inflict on your opponent can more than make up for the speed if you use it wisely.

Top 10 Best Maces In Skyrim

If you’re someone trying their hand at wielding a mace, we’ve compiled a list of the top ten most powerful and best maces in Skyrim and where to find them.

10) Dwarven Mace

Base Damage: 12

Weight: 16

While this is certainly one of the easiest high damage maces you can acquire, this simple looking weapon packs a punch with a relatively high base damage. This makes it a great fit for new mace-wielders looking to do some harm, and work on their blunt skill.

How to Acquire It:

Dwarven maces of the unenchanted sort will start to appear by the time the player hits level 12. The enchanted maces can be found when the player hits level 13. They can be looted off of other characters and enemies, found in chests or as a world item, and with blacksmiths and merchants selling general goods.

9) Nordic Mace

Base Damage: 13

Weight: 16

Now Skyrim Nordic Mace certainly looks cooler than a regular old dwarven mace and has a higher base damage for the same weight. The best thing about this mace is that you can find and acquire it at any level! (Just as Nordic War Axes, a Nordic Warhammer and a Nordic Sword)

How to Acquire It:

Though this mace begins to appear around Skyrim in its unenchanted form at level 25 and its enchanted form at 26, they can be obtained at any level by accepting the Chief of Thirsk Hall quest on Solstheim which you can get to by traveling from Windhelm.

8) Elven Mace

Base Damage: 13

Weight: 17

This pretty looking thing comes in brass with hints of gold and pearly white and it has an added point on weight as compared to the Nordic mace which places it on a higher ranking on our list.

How to Acquire It:

Unenchanted Elven maces start appearing at level 17, and the enchanted maces start appearing at level 20. It can be looted off of other characters and enemies, found in chests or as a world item, and with blacksmiths and merchants selling general goods. Thalmor Justiciars also carry these types of maces and can be taken off them.

7) Glass Mace

Base Damage: 14

Weight: 18

Regal and green, the Glass Mace is one of the coolest looking weapons to wield and is great for Dragonborns who have gained a little more experience from their adventures. Don’t let the word ‘glass’ fool you, this is not delicate. One look at its weight can tell you that.

How to Acquire It:

Glass maces in their unenchanted form start appearing at level 27 while the enchanted form can be found at level 28. They can be looted off of other characters and enemies, found in chests or as a world item, and with blacksmiths and merchants selling general goods.

6) Daedric Mace

Base Damage: 16

Weight: 20

If Sauron from Lord of the Rings were a weapon, it feels like he would look like this, with its black and gray finish and red inlays. It looks pretty sinister and it definitely does the damage to back it up. This weapon is considered to be one of the strongest and one of the best maces in Skyrim after an upgrade.

How to Acquire It:

Daedric maces in their unenchanted form start appearing at level 46 while the enchanted form can be found at level 47, although finding them is very rare. They may be dropped off as random loot by Revered or Legendary Dragons, found in chests, with blacksmiths, merchants selling general goods and the Dremora Merchant with the Black Market Power.

5) Lunar Steel Mace

Base Damage: 10

Weight: 14

Don’t be fooled by its low stats, the beauty of the lunar mace (as with all other lunar weapons) is that it bears the Silent Moons Enchant which means the damage can amp up to 20 when the moon is out.

How to Acquire It:

It’s best that you get this mace as soon as you hit level 5 as you can get find it as early as level 4 onwards at the Silent Moons Camp near the Lunar Forge.

4) Ebony Mace

Base Damage: 15

Weight: 19

Inflicts almost as much damage as the Daedric Mace but has one less point in weight which can be very helpful in certain situations. Another thing it has over the Daedric Mace is that you can reach the requirements for obtaining one a lot sooner.

How to Acquire It:

Unenchanted maces will begin to appear at level 36, and the enchanted form at level 36, though it can be found as early as level 32 in rare situations. They can be looted off of other characters and enemies mainly draugr death overlords, found in chests or as a world item, and with blacksmiths and merchants selling general goods.

3) Stalhrim Mace

Base Damage: 16

Weight: 18

This weapon has an enchantment of making Frost enchantments more powerful, and looks incredibly cool as well! Besing one of the best maces in Skyrim it inflicts a high base damage while being relatively light.

How to Acquire It:

Stalhrim maces are sold by Baldor Iron-Shaper in the Skaal Village, Glover Mallory in Raven Rock and can be found as chests or as a world item.

2) Dragonbone Mace

Base Damage: 17

Weight: 22

This mace inflicts the highest base damage than any of the other maces in the game, though it could do with a design revamp.

How to Acquire It:

The player must be at level 45 or more to retrieve this weapon from one of the three Keepers in the Soul Cairn. Its mace may be taken after its death.

1) Mace of Molag Bal

Base Damage: 16

Weight: 18

By far the most powerful mace of the game, the Skyrim mace of Molag Bal is of the Daedric Prince of domination himself. Its enchantment allows the user to deal 25 points of Magicka and stamina damage per hit and not to mention it casts a soul trap for three seconds! What can be cooler than that?

How to Acquire It:

The only way to acquire this mace is by completing the Daedric Quest “The House of Horrors” and initially looks like an offering called the Rusty Mace at the Altar of Molag Bal.

So these are few of the best maces in Skyrim as per me. Do you have more suggestions? Drop in your comments below.
